New butcherblock

Okay, here is a photo, finally! This weekend we got the sink and garbage disposal installed. Yay!

Woodworking class

For Christmas I "gave" Travis a class at the PG adult school - woodworking! So over the last few months, in between studying for exams (only one more to go, now, July 15th) and everything else, he's been going to the Pacific Grove high school and using all of their equipment. It's been nice to have all the dust and such happening THERE instead of in the living room. Or so I call it. It's still pretty much a workshop, I have no illusions about that. Last night he finished the butcher block countertop for our kitchen - it's beautiful! When I get more photos, I will post them. The only other thing we've done this spring is put in a slate floor in the guest bathroom, which came out very nicely. I guess I need to get my photos together!

Sanding

Here's me down on all fours in front of our "house" sanding what will be part of the bar...

Kitchen bar

Here's the framing for the bar...looking also at our salvaged downdraft gas range and black granite countertops! There will also be a vegetable sink and chopping block here in the future...

Welcome!

This is my first post here, so I'll just start in on what Travis and I are currently working on - a bar for the kitchen. Here's Travis standing in our future living room, with the oak that will become the bar.
